There can’t be many 3 x 50 ml mini-packs of Single Malt Irish so decorated as our own Generation Trilogy collaboration finishes celebrating the generations of Ryans. The Ryans are Whiskey Finishers. Each of the malts has won Gold at either the San Francisco World Spirits or the Irish Whiskey Awards – two of the most reputable blind-taste-testing competitions around. Toomevara (Château du Breuil calvados) took Double Gold at the 2019 San Fran Worlds, Haddington (old Guyana rum) gleaned Gold at the 2021 IWA’s, and Finisher’s Touch (Justino’s madeira) won Gold at the 2022 IWA’s. We’re pleased with the awards – chuffed, to be truthful – and present 50ml miniatures of these malts in a luxury presentation box.

2022 – another good year
We were delighted to garner another gong in 2022. Finisher’s Touch won the Irish Whiskey Award for best overall Irish Single Malt aged 12 – 15 years. This completed the hat-trick of Golds for The Generation Trilogy; Toomevara took Double Gold at the 2019 San Fran World Spirits, and Haddington came away with Gold from the 2021 Irish Whiskey Awards.
Finisher’s Touch was our most ambitious finish to date. We sent first-use bourbon casks all the way – 3,000 kms land and sea – to Funchal in the Madeira Islands, where they were seasoned with the excellent Justino’s madeira. We then brought them home, filled them with fine malt, and cosseted them till Finisher’s Touch announced its readiness.

New bottling line in action!
We are now in a position, in our Dublin Whiskey house, to select and match aged malt and Jack Ryan cask, keep a careful watch over maturation and finish, and – at last! – bottle each of our whiskeys when it is just right.
First up will be a special Finca Museum 12YO cask. This will be the first of the Jack Ryan Special Cask Series. Further casks in this series will include Justino’s Madeira, Château du Breuil calvados, bourbon, Heytesbury rum, and more,
And of course, the 2nd and 3rd parts of the Generation Trilogy, started to award-winning effect with Toomevara 10YO, will continue with Haddington 11YO and be completed by Finisher’s Touch 12YO. Numbered and signed by Eunan Ryan, MD and 5th generation Ryan scion, the Generation Trilogy follows the gratifying and peer-celebrated success of Jack Ryan 12YO, still available. -
Attending to the Casks at Hand
Winter 2020/21, goodbye, and close the door on your way out; don’t call us, we’ll call you. Meanwhile, back at the ranch – rather, back at our Finishing Hall – malts are incubating (incaskating?) and we are putting a Ryan finisher’s touch to our next releases.
OK, we get it; some of you are new to whiskey, or if not new to uisce beatha, at least new to Single Malt Irish (the bee’s knees of whiskey), and you’d like to dip your taste buds before taking the plunge on a full bottle. Fully understandable; fine whiskey costs that little bit more. We figured a properly wrapped three-pack (or rapped 3-pac) of The Generation Trilogy might meet many a need. That’s right, three 50ml miniatures – one each of Toomevara, Haddington and Finisher’s Touch – are coming soon. Don’t mention it; you’re entirely welcome. Watch this space
