• Our first Single Grain Irish Whiskey

A decade on, a dozen single malts on, and multiple awards later, the Jack Ryan Whiskey Company decided to diversify, to try something new, and has been busy crafting this latest release in our own casks in our own Dublin bond and finishing hall. We have bottled and hand-labelled this whiskey inhouse and are pleased to offer it to whiskey drinkers – old and new. A fine single grain Irish Whiskey, matured in Virgin Oak and finished in California Pinot Noir, this 40% ABV release is precociously full-flavoured, with notes of vanillin, sweet ginger and coconut. Go mbainfeá taitneamh as!

  • Shelbourne continues winning streak

Jack Ryan Whiskey Co continued our remarkable run of peer recognition at the 2023 Irish Whiskey Awards. Shelbourne 5YO CS 57.5% ABV was adjudged best overall in the category Irish Single Malts 11YO and younger. It is gratifying to win such an award, in Ireland’s pre-eminent whiskey competition, competing against such an array of quality older whiskeys. This Shelbourne Batch #1 is the first of a series of 3. Each batch comprises 980 numbered bottles, signed by Eunan Ryan, MD and Ryan scion.

In 2022, Finisher’s Touch 12YO 46% ABV won best overall in the category Irish Single Malt 12-15YO.

The Shelbourne Batches continue the JRW “Dublin Series” which started with Raglan Road. Finisher’s Touch completed “The Generation Trilogy” celebrating the generations of whiskey Ryans.

  • Shelbourne hits the shelves

2023 has been another busy and rewarding year for Jack Ryan Whiskey. Our latest release – on shelves now or very shortly, at select outlets – is Shelbourne (batch #1 of a series of 3) 5YO double distilled single malt Irish whiskey finished in first-fill oloroso, at cask strength 57.5% abv, just 980 numbered bottles, signed by Eunan Ryan.

After our “Generation Trilogy” (comprising Toomevara, Haddington and Finisher’s Touch) celebrating the 6 generations of Ryans, we began a “Dublin Suite” of releases, starting with Raglan Road. We continue this now with Shelbourne Batch Series. Raglan Road, and Shelbourne Road and Park feature for the Ryan family down all the years since Thomas established his Haddington Road vintner’s business on Haddington Road. Hence the name – others to come.

The Shelbourne Batch Series (batches #1, 2 and 3) when complete, will present distinctive inflection points of taste along a cask-and-time malt journey. Batches #2 and 3 will tell us themselves when they’re ready for the whiskey world. Batch #2 will no doubt see the oloroso assert itself. Batch #3, at journey’s end, will be yet another collaboration, this one with Domaine la Sarabande (the Gordons, Isla and Paul). Each batch will be composed of just 980 numbered and signed bottles.

As always, we will enter Shelbourne in prestigious peer-review competition; we were encouraged yet again when Finisher’s Touch and Raglan Road gleaned Gold and Silver awards in the past year.

  • The Generation Trilogy Luxury Mini-Pack

There can’t be many 3 x 50 ml mini-packs of Single Malt Irish so decorated as our own Generation Trilogy collaboration finishes celebrating the generations of Ryans. The Ryans are Whiskey Finishers. Each of the malts has won Gold at either the San Francisco World Spirits or the Irish Whiskey Awards – two of the most reputable blind-taste-testing competitions around. Toomevara (Château du Breuil calvados) took Double Gold at the 2019 San Fran Worlds, Haddington (old Guyana rum) gleaned Gold at the 2021 IWA’s, and Finisher’s Touch (Justino’s madeira) won Gold at the 2022 IWA’s. We’re pleased with the awards – chuffed, to be truthful – and present 50ml miniatures of these malts in a luxury presentation box.

  • 2022 – another good year

We were delighted to garner another gong in 2022. Finisher’s Touch won the Irish Whiskey Award for best overall Irish Single Malt aged 12 – 15 years. This completed the hat-trick of Golds for The Generation Trilogy; Toomevara took Double Gold at the 2019 San Fran World Spirits, and Haddington came away with Gold from the 2021 Irish Whiskey Awards.

Finisher’s Touch was our most ambitious finish to date. We sent first-use bourbon casks all the way – 3,000 kms land and sea – to Funchal in the Madeira Islands, where they were seasoned with the excellent Justino’s madeira. We then brought them home, filled them with fine malt, and cosseted them till Finisher’s Touch announced its readiness.

  • 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition – Gold Medallion for Jack Ryan 12YO

Eunan Ryan with the much decorated 12 Year Old Single Malt that has just added a 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Gold to the 2014 Irish Whiskey Award. To their delight, it promptly won the Irish Whiskey Award for ‘single malts 12 year-old or under’, following a stringent blind-taste test under the auspices of the Celtic Whiskey Club and the Irish Whiskey Society. The San Francisco World Spirits competition attracted more than 2,100 entries, and the Gold was awarded by a prestigious panel of industry experts.Jack Ryan 12YO is available in Europe, North America and 16 other markets around the world, and is going from strength to strength. Jack Ryan would have been happy, as would his father Thomas Ryan, whose Ryan’s Malt was so popular in the locality all those years ago, revived now to multiple award-winning effect by grandson Eunan.
